Remember that EPEL is _part of Fedora_. Someone with primary (or sole!)
interest in providing packages on that base is _also_ part of Fedora.

Please remember that I'm not going to propose any actions to kick out EPEL from Fedora.
So far my working hypothesis is that EPEL would be better to maintain not on master but on separated branch or branches (el6. el7 ..).
As long as every Fedora spec on master branch will be free it would be possible to punch much harder Fedora "gas pedal" ..
git makes such branches maintenance backports veeery easy. So everything around already is in place.
Maybe few people will need some help to learn few tricks but that is all .. theoretically.

I can only say that with every hour I'm more and more convinced that actually above "may be truth"😎
And/or this thesis on my list still is in WIP state.
