The scope of systemd has crept dramatically since the start. If the initial discussions of systemd said it would merge dhcp, udev, and that it would push binary logging, etc. Do you really think it would have gone without more vigorous opposition? Though I share that view that the complaints are misplaced. There are distributions which don't use systemd or at least make it completely practical to not use it— e.g. Gentoo. I've begun shifting my systems to it, even though it receives far less maintenance love than fedora does because its is dramatically better aligned with my uses and principles (and the principles of Free Software) than what Fedora has become. So I encourage everyone involved in Fedora who is tired of these complaints to please invite the complainers to pick up Gentoo. More people using and supporting alternatives will make the alternatives less costly to use, and ultimately people will feel less like something is being forced on them against their consent when they have reasonable low cost alternatives. It should be perfectly acceptable to tell people "Fedora is not for you." -- devel mailing list devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct
