That's option a). It's what we've been doing for several years already.
pjones more or less reached the end of his tether with attempting to
single-handedly maintain a dead codebase.

Well, someone already pointed to
http://people.freedesktop.org/~kay/loader/ , which seems intriguing. I
haven't read anything Kay's said publicly about it, though. Of course,
it's UEFI-specific.
