"Fundamental point of view difference" indeed. But the former is the > point of view many of our users defend, too. :-) See e.g. the results of > Adam Williamson's poll. > Kevin Kofler I think you are reading too much into a quick poll with a binary result. Do not assume that adventurous does not necessarily mean death-wish leaning towards suicidal. It does not necessarily mean the same thing for each release (by which I mean 13, 12, or 11). Similarly, do not assume that conservative means Ubuntu's "no change except for security fixes" policy. In reality, there is a spectrum of risks. The survey represents two points with no qualification (IE margin of error, explanations, cross-correlation questions). It is better than a dart board, and provides a flavour of how that group of folks responded to that question. Without depth it can't legitimately be used to support anyone's favourite position. Remember Mark Twain. We no more want to waste time with regressions than we want to practice free-fall skydiving into swampland without a parachute. You totally reject *reducing* the number of updates to older supported releases, but in worst cases those release *are* our parachutes. The good news, is this has got a number of us end-users off our comfy chairs and involved. We have a stake in the outcome. The bad news, is we have opinions and even a few skills too.
