Having two mixers on the menu sucks, I agree. We should be able to access the full ALSA mixer by pressing an 'advanced...' button in the simplified mixer. Or something more well-hidden, perhaps. But people were throwing their toys out of the pram and refusing to even contemplate that kind of thing, so we ended up with the compromise.
