Well, I think that we all agree than we shouldn't close the list to non-subscribers if that means losing Jari. (And some of us are opposed to that, even if it didn't mean losing Jari.) On the other hand, a lot of us are sick of seeing all the spam on this list. So what solutions are there? A few that I can think of are: - non-subscribers are sent a confirmation email the first time they post to the list. If they reply within xx hours/days, they get whitelisted, and their post, and all future posts, go through without any further action. List members should be able to report the post as spam (because some spammers actually will reply to a confirmation email), in which case the email address is blacklisted. - moderate the posts of non-subscribers. I suspect that the list administrators won't be too thrilled about this one. - "just hit delete". This is the "let's just go back to the way things were" option. I'm not a big fan of this one, but I'm including it just for completeness. Any other suggestions?
