Hi,

Sorry for bringing this thread up again. After building hadoop and ceph, I am not able to run the wordcount example. I am getting the following error:

varunc@varunc4-virtual-machine:/usr/local/hadoop$ time /usr/local/hadoop/bin/hadoop jar hadoop*examples*.jar wordcount /mnt/ceph/wc2 /mnt/ceph/op
Warning: $HADOOP_HOME is deprecated.

I have mounted ceph fs on /mnt/ceph, and have a 2 node cluster. Following are my *-site.xml files:
Core-site.xml (I have tried quite a few permutations of these properties):

<configuration>
<property>
  <name>hadoop.tmp.dir</name>
  <value>/app/hadoop/tmp</value>
  <description>A base for other temporary directories.</description>
</property>

<property>
  <name>fs.default.name</name>
  <value>ceph:///</value>
  <description>The name of the default file system.  A URI whose
  scheme and authority determine the FileSystem implementation.  The
  uri's scheme determines the config property (fs.SCHEME.impl) naming
  the FileSystem implementation class.  The uri's authority is used to
  determine the host, port, etc. for a filesystem.</description>
</property>

<property>
  <name>ceph.conf.file</name>
  <value>/etc/ceph/ceph.conf</value>
</property>

<property>
  <name>ceph.root.dir</name>
  <value>/mnt/ceph</value>
</property>
</configuration>

mapred-site.xml:

<configuration>
<property>
  <name>mapred.job.tracker</name>
  <value>varunc4-virtual-machine:54311</value>
  <description>The host and port that the MapReduce job tracker runs
  at.  If "local", then jobs are run in-process as a single map
  and reduce task.
  </description>
<!--  <name>mapred.map.tasks</name>
  <value>1</value>-->
</property>
</configuration>

I hope there is no need to make any changes to the hdfs-site.xml.

Can someone please tell me what is wrong and how do I get it working?

Thanks
Varun
