Poking at this since I've been getting other KDE updates, aside from you
is there anyone else I can contact to help with this as well since I
don't get how that .cpp is set and what to look for. The last commit on
that .cpp is 6 months ago, so do I need to nudge that issue to get
something going if you're not able to?

Howdy,
Well the issues I identified are only related to Konsole. Without fire the proper events orca is not able to react. Once those got fixed we can optimize it. I will take a look at this in upcoming days.

Only one way to know for sure, work on kde accessibility has been recent
so maybe orca can be adjusted to exploit that work.
