I was thinking of how to get some sort of speech environment on my iPAQ, but I don't have enough memory to run Emacs so I sort-of lost interest. ;) That said... ... what do you want to do with a PDA? I'm always open to project suggestions, and I've played around a bit with festival lite on the iPAQ (if memory serves me correctly; it's been a while). The input is fairly limited since the iPAQ only has a few buttons. People who want to seriously use a PDA might be better off with a Zaurus, since that has a built-in keyboard. You can probably do _some_ form of input with the buttons on an iPAQ, but I'm not sure how good that is as a user interface, and we all know how wonderful speech recognition is right now. <wry grin> Still, the iPAQ can probably read books and contacts and... umm... hmmm. Play chess? You might want to get in touch with jamey@handhelds.org - he can get you in touch with whoever sets up the mailing list, or he'll set up one for you instead.
