Or... You can buy the computer at http://www.walmart.com, buy a Slackware distribution at http://shop.slackware.com and install that distro on the machine you just received. I think the machine that were sold a little while ago on walmart did not even include an operating system. That would be the best solution -- bare metal machine + nice distro = great linux box. I agree that Lindows and Mandrake are not very good. Lindows, especially, seems really evil, since it requests you to sign up and pay to "upgrade" your Linux... When most of these upgrades can be obtained for free from the Internet.
