Presumably it's "automount: files ldap" or "automount: ldap", I can't tell from this. In any case Linux autofs is not tolerant of configurations that aren't quite right and won't just ignore them as Solaris seems to do in some cases. Perhaps this is the source of the problem. Really, putting map entries in what should be the master map is the wrong thing to do and will lead to even more confusion later. For example, what if you have two distinct indirect maps that have some keys of the same name but point to different mount locations, how will the key lookup work out which key belongs to what map? Even if putting them in the master map ldap object works I recommend separating them to be under specific map object holders as is seen in the example I originally pointed you at.
