The ft.o module can ONLY enable RAID on an existing Linux system that is
not based on Promise FastTrack RAID devices.

If you are planning to boot Linux such that the Operating system uses RAID
devices, you need initrd image containing several modules (including
ft.o) but not the ft.o module.
