Lots of drives

I'd like to build a system with 40+ IDE drives on it. I was planning
on using 3ware's Escalade, because that turns 40 IDE drives into 5
SCSI devices, and that's fairly straightforward to configure in
Linux. But 3ware discontinued the Escalade.

Is there any other IDE Raid product that can do this? I'm
experimenting with the Promise FastTrak 100, but it seems to eat IRQs
left and right, to the point where I can't even use 2 cards on one
system. I'm probably doing something wrong, but it seems that scaling
to 5 cards wil be impossible.
