Recommended IDE-based RAID solution ?

Hello,everyone in this list !

I have a PC with old motherboard: Gigabyte-GA686BX (440BX - based) with
PII-450 & 768M SDRAM.
And I should build a Samba-server for workgroup with this hardware.
As all you know, 440BX has only UDMA33 capability.
I would like to use newer harddrives on this machine (2 x IBM
30G/7200rpm/UDMA100).
So, now it's time to decide: what kind of UDMA100-to-PCI adapter should be
purchased.
The main target is to build ***bootable RAID1 array*** under RH7.1. I'm not
sure about reliability of Promise-binary-only drivers, and AFAIK GPL driver
did not work for RAID1. So, since it will be a production server, using of
standart Software RAID is preferred. Also I should say, that internal
(440BX-based) IDE controller will stay for CD-ROM / CD-RW drives, but not
for any HDDs.
So drive map should be (I hope):
UDMA100 : 2 masters (IBM's HDDs, one per channel);
440BX-IDEcontroller: CD-ROM and CD-RW, both masters on separate channels.

What can you recommend ?
I'm thinking about Promise Ultra100 (not FastTrak100 - or is it useable as
ordinary (not RAID) UDMA controller?).
Maybe any HighPoint controllers or ASUS (relabeled Promise , AFAIK) will be
the better choise ?
Thank you for replies!

With best regards,
Alim V. Baidjanov
