SV: RAID0 on 8 disks with 2 Promise FastTrak100 TX2

Thank you Arjan!
The patch to kernel version 2.4.12 worked fine, after altering the
patch-file (changing the paths to reflect my /usr/src/linux) I compiled
the kernel, installed it and restarted my system.
At system boot all disks are detected fine and also included in the
array.
I created a partition that spans the entire array (all disks), then I
made a reiserfs file system on the partition.
I copied a gig data to it, umounted the file system, ran reiserfsck on
it.

Everything works just fine, except when running reiserfsck while the
filesystem is mounted, I the get the following error:

root@ogg:~> reiserfsck -i --check /mnt/test
reiserfsck, 2001 - reiserfsprogs 3.x.0i
Will read-only check consistency of the partition
Will put log info to 'stderr'
Do you want to run this program?[N/Yes] (note need to type Yes):Yes
reiserfs_open: bread failed reading block 16
reiserfs_open: bread failed reading block 2
reiserfs_open: neither new nor old reiserfs format found on /mnt/test
reiserfsck: --rebuild-sb may restore reiserfs super block

Is it normal for reiserfsck to behave like this on a mounted reiserfs
file system?

Once again I thank you Arjan for the help.

Best regards

Frank Mikkelsen
