Note the America West Magazine says the following:

Electronic devices that transmit or receive a signal, such as cellular
phones (in any mode; i.e. game mode), GPS receivers, all pagers, portable
TVs, radio and transmitters/transceivers, and remote-control toys may cause
interference with communication and navigation systems. Their use is
prohibited during flight, taxi, take-off and landing. These items may be
used only while the aircraft is parked and the aircraft door is open.
However, calculators, electronic games or shavers, personal digital
assistants (except those that transmit/receive), computers, CD, DVD or MP3
players, voice recorders, and video cameras may be used in flight, but must
be turned off and the items stowed during taxi, takeoff, landing and when
directed by a crew member.
