No that was a bit of oversimplification ;-)
Perhaps more like:
$ rpm -q glglobe
$ yumdownloader glglobe  (same version hopefully)
# rpm -e --nodeps --justdb glglobe
---
# rpm -Uvh --justdb glglobe-x-y-x.arch.rpm
$ rpm -V glglobe
