I did not mean to imply that you were blaming claws-mail for the "user" error.  You
had said "I'm glad I wasn't using IMAP" which to me seemed to indicate you thought if
you were using IMAP it would have been impossible to recover your emails.  And that
is simply untrue.

In the email clients I use one can configure the delete action several ways.

1.  Immediate Deletion    (I've never seen that as the default behavior)
2.  Mark for later deletion.   The "expunge" command must be issued for actual
deletion to take place.  Or set, "expunge on exit".
3.  Move to trash.

Since I don't have any knowledge of claws-mail, and since you seemed very happy to
not have been using IMAP, I was wondering if claws did only #1 above which I would
classify as a deficiency.

FWIW, I use email on multiple platforms on a daily basis with IMAP.  I've not used
POP in a long time.  Unless there as been additions to the protocol, the issue I had
with POP is that it had no concept of synchronization.  All the mail came down to all
of the clients and I found myself deleting the same emails over the multiple
platforms I was using.  Either that or marking emails as "read".  With IMAP that
issue doesn't exist.

In either case, it good to hear you problem has been resolved.
