I haven't done this, but it should work. Exit claws mail. In your home directory there is a directory called .claws-mail. In that directory there is another directory called uidl. Go into that directory and do an ls. Look for the file of the email account that you are interested in resetting. Edit its file, and remove the last X entries, enough to capture all the messages that you accidentally deleted. Save it, and now restart claws mail.
