Just an addition to this thread. I have a "pure" KDE VM. I just installed "nautilus" and its dependencies as well as gvfs-mtp. I can open traverse the Android 8 file system just fine. I can download files from Android 8 just fine using "nautilus" Dolphin which uses kio_mtp fails. The package is kio_mtp-0.75-17.20141221gitc418634.fc28. Maybe something has changed a bit since 2014? -- Conjecture is just a conclusion based on incomplete information. It isn't a fact.
