Uuninstalled pulseaudio because the working cofig does not cnotain it. Rebooted.

The "plughw" device and the USB audio driver can automatically convert
hardware parameters; it is likely that the problem is with some other
device initialization that happens when the parameters are set.

Are there any error messages in the system log (probably
/var/log/messages, or the output of dmesg) when this error happens?
