Hi, I found a way to run the dbmeasure tool ( http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Backends/ALSA/Decibel ) to record the dB levels for my USB sound card. I now have a CSV file with the true levels of each of the volume steps. Can someone help me with how I can incorporate this into the ALSA USB driver? Please let me know if I should submit a bug or if there is some kind of "quirks" file that I can update. I attached the log here, in case someone can create a patch right away. The sound card is an "Asus Xonar U1", USB IDs "0b05:1743 ASUSTek Computer, Inc. Xonar U1 Audio Station". Each of the rows in the file correspond to a decibel value in alsamixer, the top line is 0 dB, bottom line is -37 dB, and the information is the true measured levels and dB. Two minor problems; (1) the Mic input is quite noisy, so I had to change the minimum noise dB level to -37 dB in the dbmeasure tool. The default is -58. Problem (2): The bottom step should be "0", because it is completely silent at that level. It is only non-zero because there is some noise on the input. I hope someone can help me, these dB levels are driving me crazy when using PulseAudio. Thanks, Marius
