yep, sorry. maybe i explained wrong: bruno is not using a recent alsa version, hda codec has been developed a lot since version 1.0.16. i think that the problem he has is the version he is using, outdated drivers. i dint think about what jim is saying, its an intelligent strategy: make a test with a recent livecd (make sure it has a fresh alsa version). then you can decide to use a fresh updated distribution or not. best regards. jose.
