ATI ALC890 - sound too quiet

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I have an ASRock AOD790GX/128M motherboard with am AMD 790GX northbridge
and an AMD SB750 southbridge containing
"7.1 CH Windows Vista Premium Level HD Audio" with an
ALC890 Audio codec (according to the motherboard's manual)

I'm running an 2.6.29 kernel (Gentoo revision r2) and alsa-utils
1.0.19-r2.

lspci gives
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
01:05.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RS780 Azalia controller

The driver under Windows XP64 says
"ATI HDMI Audio Driver: Realtek (High Definition Audio)"

alsa-info recognizes an Codec: Realtek ALC889A

While the sound is OK under Windows, it's very quiet
even with alsamixer's controls turned up to the red region.

Is there any hope?

Many thanks for a hint,

Helmut Jarausch
