Well, this took a while............ And I guess I gave alot of grief to some of my new friends at this site (special thanks, Mark Constable). After many fruitless hours of trying to incorporate my Tascam US122 under a 64 bit version of Fedora 10, I think I have semi-solved the problem. No, I STILL cannot get it to work - the firmware is loaded, and 2nd step initialization occurs, but no 'green light'. But just to play (and spend another bunch of hours), I took an ancient IBM laptop I had staged with the 32 bit Fedora. I upgraded her to the new F10 kernel. Still has pulseaudio and all that other stuff. Followed Mark's suggestions for loading all this stuff (which I had done on my 64 bit machine), and plugged the Tascam into it. The light INSTANTLY came on, and I was able to record a moving guitar solo (GRINS) in good quality - no hissing, pops, etc. So my thinking is that something is broken in the 64 bit F10 kernel? Would that seem reasonable? If the consensus is 'yes', I would be glad to MR this fact, if someone could steer me on how to do that..................
