Right, just re-enabled my onboard sound card and fitted a digital out 
backplate to the motherboard spdif header pins. I get ac3/a52 pass 
through working absolutely fine now, so that's cool.
Its not as good as the Audigy 4, but with the AV amp on DAC duties its 
ok. I'll probably stick with the Audigy 4 for analogue stereo out, to my 
stereo amp and use the AC97 card for Dolby 5.1/DTS pass through only.
