Hello.

I have seen that the Soundcard "nVidia Corporation MCP51 High
Definition Audio (rev a2)" should work with alsa. However, I cannot
get it working under my HP Pavilion dv6010ea Laptop.

First some Information about my System:

I am using Debian Etch

If any additional Information is needed, please ask, and I will try to give it.

I have tried to install the modules in three ways:

1. Using Debian's module-assistant
m-a a-i alsa

this worked. But running alsaconf, the Laptop freezed.

2. Using the Source-Deb from packages.debian.org - This didnt even compile.
3. Installing from the Source Tarball
ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.14rc3.tar.bz2
using ./configure, make, make install, and the card-finding script,
and then alsaconf. This time, alsaconf didnt freeze, and I could load
the snd-hda-intel-module.

Anyway, no matter how I tried, the aftermath always was and is:
Trying to play a .wav (or Music from any other Sound-Application, even
"yes | aplay" and "yes > /dev/dsp"), makes my PC-Speakers play the
first (approx.) half-second of the Sound repeatingly, but not more, as
long as the Application runs. I can even hear more than one "channel"
(i.e. when using GAIM, multiple accustic Message-Arrived-Notifications
are played at the same time, but only the first half second, and are
repeated until I completely close GAIM).

Could somebody please help me? I have no Idea what to do.

Greetings
Tknits Kitsahcots
