But I still can't e.g. play a mp3 file. > Xine tells me "Einrichtung aller Audiotreiber fehlgeschlagen" (something > like configuration of all audio devices failed). Try something simpler than xine first. For example aplay -l: $ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Gina3G [Gina3G], device 0: Analog PCM [Gina3G] Subdevices: 6/6 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 Subdevice #4: subdevice #4 Subdevice #5: subdevice #5 card 0: Gina3G [Gina3G], device 1: Digital PCM [Gina3G] Subdevices: 8/8 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 Subdevice #4: subdevice #4 Subdevice #5: subdevice #5 Subdevice #6: subdevice #6 Subdevice #7: subdevice #7 card 1: Gina24 [Gina24], device 0: Analog PCM [Gina24] Subdevices: 8/8 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 Subdevice #4: subdevice #4 Subdevice #5: subdevice #5 Subdevice #6: subdevice #6 Subdevice #7: subdevice #7 card 1: Gina24 [Gina24], device 1: Digital PCM [Gina24] Subdevices: 8/8 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 Subdevice #4: subdevice #4 Subdevice #5: subdevice #5 Subdevice #6: subdevice #6 Subdevice #7: subdevice #7 card 2: Snapper [PowerMac Snapper], device 0: PMac Snapper [PowerMac Snapper] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 $ You should see at least the Gina24 if the module was loaded successfully. If the Gina24 is the card 0, try: aplay something.wav (if it's card 1 you have to specify the device: aplay -D plughw:1 zyx.wav) You will not hear anything until you set the volume, which is muted by default. Try echomixer (it's part of alsa-tools.
