The pre-compiled binaries for alpha were built on sourceforge's now-defunct
compile farm.  They were built with the minimal host.def file in
xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/etc/bindist/Linux-axp/.  That had glibc
2.3.?, and I don't recall the gcc version.
