Hi,
I was trying to install RedHat linux 8.0 on a machine with Intel Celeron Processor with 128 mb of RAM and Mercury main borad.
The installation had gone through very fine but after it the Xserver failed after booting giving the error "Fatal server error : no screens found".
The installation is with the option "Everything".
At the same time it had given the error as follows:
ddcprobe returbed bogus values
ID : MTK05b0
Name : MTK M-1456
Horizontal sync = -268377405 - -268376042
Vertical sync = -268376042 - -268370092
Can't start Xserver, trying with the fresh configuration.
The above mentioned errors are repeated again and again with the new configuration too.
Next to it the command "X -configure" gives the following output.
Fatal server error:
XFree86 has found a valid card configuration.
Unfortunaltely the appropriate data has not been added to xf86PciInfo.h
