Those are exactly the settings that I had and it did not work.  I found
the solution by combing through the gentoo.org sparc forum.  I had to
bandon *BSD b/c of problems with the USB support on them for the 
Sun Blade.

The following has to be added to the X config in the device section, 
whether you are using XFree or Xorg:

Option "reference_clock" "29.5 MHz" 

Other people also reported the value "28.636 MHz" as working.

Hopefully having this in the XFree archives will help some other poor
sod not have to bash their head against the desk for quite so long...
