Russian and Swiss German layout

Hi

I'm running debian sarge with xfree 4.3.0.1. I'd like to be able to write
both in German and in Russian on my notebook which has a de_CH
(Swiss German) keyboard layout. Unfortunatly, I can't set the XkbLayout
to "de_CH,ru(phonetic)" and the command

 setxkbmap -rules xfree86 -model pc105 -layout "de_CH,ru(phonetic)" \
  -option "grp:ctrls_toggle"

is failing with "Error loading new keyboard description".

I tried it with "de,ru(phonetic)". That one is working, but the Swiss German
(de_CH) and the German (de) keyboard layout have only have a few mutualities,
so that's not a final solution. I also tried to look at the differences
between the two symbol files, but I don't quite undertand the docs. The
difference between the manpage and other docs puzzeles me:

man setxkbmap:
-layout name
Specifies the name of the layout used to determine the components
which make up the keyboard description. Only one layout may be
specified on the command line.

And /usr/share/doc/xserver-xfree86/README.XKB-Config.gz, aside from some
typos:

Of course, this can be also done at runtime using utility setxkbmap. Shell
command loading the same keyboard mapping would look like:

setxkmap -rules xfree86 -model logicordless -layout "us,cz,de" \
              -option "grp:alt_shift_toggle"

What's the right way to toggle between the de_CH and the ru layout?

Regards, Mathias
