Is there way to set X up so it will handle Raw keyboard code?

That is why i am asking, with that the way it is all it does is dump out the raw keycode to the screen, which isn't much help. I have heard X can handle the RAW keycodes, but i don't know how to set that up, any help i would be most thankful, Jason.
