Hi.

I think I found the solution by myself...

I had the HARDEND USE-flag set in /etc/make.conf (gentoo specific).

I recompiled 2 times my system and the second time I used an kernel which was compiled with a "nonhardend" gcc compiler.

But I suppose it would have been enough to recompile gcc (emerge -e gcc) and then to recompile X (emerge -e xfree).

Bye the way... my VIM crashed also before always with a segmentation fault... now it works again :-)

I found this solution on the web ...

So sorry for posting here, but as I had no X it was difficult for me to search on the web first... ;-)
