I know it does work and that it even woks at this resolution as I have found others who use theirs at this resolution. I'm sure I'm probably gonna kick myself when I find out what the problem is aswell

Kind Regards

Hi Warren,
I don't know why I didn't think of this before. Can you get the current modeline information from your console?

On my systems I do not run xdm and the system boots to a test login only. On aspect of working this way is that when I run X using startx (I run fluxbox) my login console has some lines that say:

GetModeLine - scrn: 0 clock: 108000
GetModeLine - hdsp: 1280 hbeg: 1328 hend: 1440 httl: 1628
            - vdsp: 1024 vbeg: 1025 vend: 1028 vttl: 1088 flags: 5

(Alt-Ctl-F1 --- Alt-Ctl-F7)

I have a suspision that maybe if you get your machine to drop into the mode you want that you might use these values to program a modeline that works?

You may have to turn of xdm/kdm to make this work. I'm not sure as I never use them.

   Anyway, it's a thought.

Take care,
Mark
