If VPC installs a virtual network device, maybe you can telnet or ssh to the Linux installation from Windows (on the same machine)? Other than that, you'll need to find a way to get into it via a text mode, which is kinda outside the scope of this list. I would suggest [CTRL]-[ALT]-[F1]/[F2]/[F3]/[F4]/[F5]/[F6], but maybe that's a Linux-only method. However, setting the driver to "vesa" should be all that is required to get a working XFree86 setup. Getting into your VPC in text mode is up to you :-/.
