IBM ThinkPad 760XL and 4.3.0

i've just finally gotten NetBSD 1.6.2 onto this 760xl (this has been one heck
of a challenging install) and now i'm looking at taking a stab at X.

what do i need to do to get it to work correctly? i can get it to run, but the
display is all messed up. there is a shadow slightly more than a full character
to the right.

also, the docs for this laptop say it can do 16-bit at 800x600, but i only seem
to be able to get it into 800x600 when run at 8-bit color depth.

thanks!
