Problem with framebuffer dualhead on matrox g450 pci next to an nvidia agp card

My box contains two cards:

NVidia GeForce2 GTS 64 Mb
Matrox G450 PCI

I have my matrox configured to run dualhead on two framebuffer devices (/dev/fb0 and /dev/fb1)
using the matroxfb and matroxfb_crtc2 kernel drivers. Both framebuffer
devices work fine outside of X.


For my NVidia card, I use the nvidia driver for X from nvidia.com. This
also works.

I have a working configuration for X where I use the NVidia card
and one of the matrox heads (fb0 or fb1, either of both will work) as two screens in X.


So far so good, now for the problem: today I tried to configure the
second head of the matrox card (/dev/fb1 in my box) to be used as screen
three in X. I don't get any errors from X in the XFree86.0.log file, but
the third screen doesn't do anything. When I disable the second screen
(matrox head 1 on /dev/fb0) in the config, the third screen does work
(together with the first screen on the nvidia). So I can use both heads
of the matrox in X, but I can't use them at the same time :(

When I disable the NVidia screen in the config and I also remove the
BusID options from the matrox screens, both matrox screens do work
together in X (xserver starts in "framebuffer mode"), but when I add the nvidia screen to the config without putting the BusID options back in, I get an error telling me I need to specify BusIDs for all framebuffers in "non-framebuffer mode". When I do specify these (identical) IDs, one of the heads simply refuses to work.


In short: I can get any combination of 2 screens working, but all three
of them together will not work. Does anybody have a suggestion for me as
to how I could be able to fix this?

I run XFree86 Version 4.3.0.1 on a Debian box with a 2.4.21 kernel.

My XF86Config and the XFree86.0.log I get when only one of the heads
works (but both are configured) are both attached to this email.
