this seems to tell that XFree86 isn't starting the C&T driver but the VESA driver - I suppose.
Could you send the two log's (the one working and the previously not working one) ?

PS - On a different topic, what's with the inet6 warning messages at the top?

Also, is there a way to speed up X startup time... it looks like X is trying a lot
of stuff every time it starts. Can I change some configurations to tell it to
remember the settings from last time? Xfree86 seems to be taking ~8 seconds
to start up on my system while XMetro took about 5.
