G'day folks, I'm trying to install RH 8.2 on a PII 233 MHz with S3 Trio video. The install appears to go OK, S3 card and NEC LCD monitor are both discovered correctly, but the X server won't start up (the Red Hat install offers to test the graphics configuration and only shows a blank screen) . The error reported in the logs is "no screens found" Pasted below is XFree86.1.log then XF86Config. Sorry this mail's so long. I'd appreciate any advice on where to head/what to try next. TIA -- Regards Ken --start of XFree86.1.log-- XFree86 Version 4.2.0 (Red Hat Linux release: 4.2.0-72) / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600) Release Date: 23 January 2002 If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting problems.
