I fetched the latest sources and it starts now. However, when I exit to
the text console it gets corrupted (only the first line is visible, other 23 lines contain garbage).
How can I debug this further?
PS. Is it possible to get 1280x720 resolution out of this driver? I'd like
to connect this box to my LCD projector...

I still have to dig out the DDC probe.
The text console getting corrupted might be caused by improper restoration of the vga/tv registers (LeaveVT). Does this happen every time you switch to a console (without actually quitting X)? Does X come up ok when you switch back? Please define "latest XFree86 sources"
Please attach your config and XFree86.0.log. For more verbose debugging output, please recompile via_driver.o with DEBUG_PRINT uncommented in via_driver.h and the following patch applied:
