If you are really dedicated, you should probably learn about the software architecture of the system, or befriend someone who already knows. Since it is easy to say that Z idea would be great, but without knowing in detail how the underlying system it would be part of is implemented, it is difficult to understand the feasibility of integrating Z into the system, and its interaction with multi-platform support, the plethora of supported hardware, developer resources, development priorities, and community politics.
