Perhaps you are right. But I'm not the person who needs convincing, I
am able to cope sufficiently with how things are now, despite my unsupported
hardware. And this probably isn't the appropriate communication vector;
if you are really interested, you should probably contribute your ideas
to the discussion forum:

Maybe you will get some support, who knows?

If you are really dedicated, you should probably learn about the software
architecture of the system, or befriend someone who already knows. Since
it is easy to say that Z idea would be great, but without knowing in
detail how the underlying system it would be part of is implemented,
it is difficult to understand the feasibility of integrating Z into the
system, and its interaction with multi-platform support, the plethora
of supported hardware, developer resources,  development priorities,
and community politics.

Thus, I wish you luck should you choose to take your ideas any further.
