According to the monitor EDID, your hsyc range is 30.000-83.000. > ... > (WW) NVIDIA(0): Not using mode "800x600" (height 1200 is larger than > (WW) NVIDIA(0): EDID-specified maximum 1024) > (**) NVIDIA(0): Validated modes for display device CRT-0: > (**) NVIDIA(0): Default mode "1280x1024": 135.0 MHz, 80.0 kHz, 75.0 > Hz > (**) NVIDIA(0): Default mode "1024x768": 78.8 MHz, 60.1 kHz, 75.1 > Hz > ... > > what's that EDID thing? why is my display called CRT? how could I fix > things to use both 1280, 1024 and 800 resolutions? The EDID is the block of information the monitor gave the graphics card about its capabilities. You should specify 30.000-83.000 for your HorizSync range.
