  1152x864 has a higher clock than 1024x768 and the signal would be
more susceptible to external interference.  Make sure the monitor cable
is plugged in securely and is clear of power cords.

   Maybe you could just send us your /var/log/XFree86.0.log file
instead so we can see what modes it's trying to use.
