[XFree86] Graah! Andrew Smash!

I finally decided to install all of the errata for my system, and now I'm
having trouble with X. Meta trouble. Every time I try to explain it, I
keep saying things like ``the pictures are in the right place, but the
widgets are all in the top quarter of the screen.''

Which causes most people to say ``Huh?'' and then, ``Can you provide a
screenshot?'' But since the text for the menus is in the quarter, it
becomes very difficult to take a screenshot.

So I'm asking for some help. I've got the screenshot here:

I think my explanation is pretty clear, but I seem to be alone in this
opinion.

Does anyone know what's going on? I'm running kernel 2.4.21, and while
this happens on 4.1.0-25, I'm running 4.0.3 right now, and so I can't send
the XF86Config file (unless someone really wants me to upgrade and thinks
it'll help).

I also attempted to install XFree-4.3.0-2, but it keeps whining about
kernel-drm 4.3. (I'm running 2.4.21, darn it! It oughta be current
enough!)

Suggestions?
