[XFree86] Mandrake 9.1 X server problem

Hi....I have a Samsung 551v monitor with an SiS 300/305 video adaptor card, I can install and run perfectly mandrake 9.0
(which uses XFree86-server-4.2.1) but attempts to upgrade to mandrake 9.1 (XFree86-server-4.3.5) gives me a X server
failure.  My guess is there is no driver for the SiS 305 AGP with the 4.3.5 version of XFree86. Is there any way to change out
the later version for an earlier one to make 9.1 work? I suspect it would have to be done at the command line level, as that is
all I can boot to ( and is something which I am rather weak at handling). On checking the /var/log/ there is no XFree.0.log file.
Checking /var/log/mdkkdm.log tells me XFree86 is using version 3.3.6.   I'm truly confused.   Any help most gratefully welcomed.
Thank you.......Fred Varley
