[XFree86] x losed after upgrade to new kernel, please help

Dear xfee86 programers:

 I install redhat's new 2.4.21 kerenl and halt and boot to that new 
kernel, but then X was lost.

when I startx, it response such error at the end

XIO:fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server.":0.0"
        after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining

I especailly copy the old /etc/X11/XF86Config
then recopy back it after I enter 2.4.21 from 2.4.20-20.9
