I configured my Dell laptop with RedHat Linux 9.0. It has an nVidia
video card. Then I've undertaken the daunting task of configuring the
external display. I tried running redhat-config-xfree86 and the
graphical window doesn't come up (garbled noise). I tried running
XFree86 -configure and using that XFConfig86 file. When I ran XFree86 to
test it, I got a blank screen. Each time X fails to load, my terminal
resets the top line to the last line used, running commands off the
bottom of the monitor.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm about to go back and figure
out my version of XFree86 and try connecting to my monitor directly
(instead of through the docking station)l.
Thanks,
Dan
