Arpit,

To your first problem :

I have also a reasonable old motherboard with a P1 class processor ( 166MHz ).
I managed to run a 30Gb Harddisk, while my bios does not support Harddisks larger then 2Gb.

The trick was to go to the Harddisk manufacturers site and download a special program for this problem.
You have to install this on your Harddisk.
Once installed, your system will run that program first (after bios startup and before your OS starts)
It will correct your bios settings for your Harddisk.

Note, that my Harddisk was a Western Digital with good support.
I am do not know if this is a service provided by all HD manufacturers.

With your second problem the netvista, i don't now if you now this but
that netvista is certificated for linux, you just have to call to the
call center and they HAVE to help you if it is some problem there, you
can review the IBM home page for more information. If they don't help
you incist !! i worked there that why i'm tell you this, All the IBM
computers are certificared for linux, and red hat specific.

Sir/Madam

I have a couple of problems regarding my computer systems.

Problem 1:

I have a query regarding my computer system. I have a Pentium-I
class computer the description of which is:
1. Pentium-I (S) @ 100 MHz CPU
2. Intel i430-VX Chipset original motherboard from Intel

i430-VX-AI5V-90/100/133/150/175/200 05-04-1996

The largest harddisk supported by my motherboard is 8.4 GB. My BIOS version is 1.0 01

Is it possible that by some means (for eg. upgrading my BIOS) that my motherboard can recognize a bigger harddisk.

******************************

Problem 2:

I have a IBM Netvista 6824-42A computer with Intel 845 Chipset. I failed to get x-working with Linux Red hat 8.0. I upgraded to Linux 9.0 and got the x . But i have still not able to get the desired resolution/display which at present is set at 800*600. i am trying by going to settings>display>resolution no luck.

I shall be highly grateful for an early solution for the same.

Thanking you
