Try lower settings in the config file.

You can use Ctrl + Alt + Backspace to exit the xwindow system if it
hangs (instead of reset)

Subject: Blank screen after startx

I did a default setup of RedHat 7.3. When I start X (startx) all I get
is a blank
screen. The only way I know how to get out of this situation is to hit
the reset
button!

I looked at the configuration file, and it appears to have correctly
identified the
video card as a TGUI 96XX (it is the Trident 9680 adapter). The
monitor type is
unknown to X (but I know that it is a Teco TE1422, and that it works on
the
same machine under Windows NT at 800x600, 16 bit color @60 Hz)

How does one go about troubleshooting the adapter/monitor setup???

Thanks,

-jmd
